Simon Cowell has praised his longtime friend, Katie Piper, for her incredible resilience and dedication to supporting burn survivors, calling her “one of the most special people” he has ever met. The music mogul spoke warmly about their 16-year friendship during the Katie Piper Foundation’s third annual Carol concert, where he delivered an emotional speech.

Cowell, who has been a patron of the charity for 15 years, reflected on the moment he first learned about Piper’s story. “You are honestly one of the most special people I’ve ever met because I want to take you back 16 years,” Cowell said. He recalled watching a documentary that detailed Piper’s life after she suffered a brutal acid attack in 2008 by her ex-boyfriend, which left her with burns and partial blindness.

“I saw someone in tremendous pain,” Cowell continued. “I can’t imagine what you went through.” He emphasized Piper’s unwavering strength, describing her as “the real definition of what I call strength, being a survivor in so many ways and real, real, true inspiration.”

Piper, who has since become a tireless advocate for burn survivors and founded the Katie Piper Foundation, received high praise for her dedication to helping others who have suffered similar trauma. Cowell’s speech highlighted Piper’s extraordinary work and the positive impact she has made on countless lives.

As he concluded his heartfelt address, Cowell shared that his son, Eric, will also be involved in the charity work in the years to come. “I am honored to be a friend. I will always be here with you, with Lauren, and in years to come Eric. [to Eric] Over to you next!” he added, passing the torch of philanthropy to the next generation.

The annual Carol concert, which raises funds for the Katie Piper Foundation, celebrates the organization’s mission to support burn survivors and help them rebuild their lives.
