Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that her home was targeted by a bomb threat on Monday, December 9, in a chilling incident that resulted in a devastating tragedy.

According to Greene, local police received an email claiming that an explosive device had been planted in her mailbox. The email, traced to a Russian IP address, described the bomb in meticulous detail, stating it was “a 1×8 inch threaded galvanized pipe, end caps, a kitchen timer, some wires, metal clips, and homemade black powder.”

The anonymous sender added with malice: “I’ve constructed a pipe bomb, which I recently hid in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s mailbox. It is set to go off during the weekend but it would also explode the next time anybody opens the mailbox.” They signed off provocatively, “VIVA VIVA PALESTINA.”

The Rome Police Department responded immediately, deploying a bomb squad to Greene’s Georgia home. In a video shared by Greene, a bomb technician in a protective suit is seen inspecting the area. Thankfully, the bomb squad determined that there was no active threat.

However, tragedy struck during the emergency response. A Rome police officer en route to assist the bomb squad was involved in a fatal car accident near Redmond Road and Walmart. The crash claimed the life of an innocent woman, Tammie Pickelsimer, and left the officer injured, the New York Post reported.

Greene expressed her devastation over the incident, writing, “I’m heartsick right now. I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in an auto accident involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad who was responding to the threat at my home.”

She continued, “These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act.”

Greene added her condolences, “My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department.”

This is not the first time Greene has faced threats. She has been swatted at least nine times since taking office—incidents where false emergency calls send police to her home. Greene has spoken previously about how such events disrupt her life, even recalling how one prank ruined her family’s Christmas last year.

Greene thanked the Rome Police Department for their quick action, stating, “I’m so grateful to every member of the Rome Police Department for your swift and professional response in ensuring my safety.” As threats against members of Congress continue to rise, Greene’s harrowing experience highlights the very real and sometimes tragic consequences of political intimidation.
