Prince William is reportedly feeling a sense of relief over his cautious approach to the investigation into Meghan Markle’s alleged bullying of palace staff during her time as a senior royal. In March 2021, Buckingham Palace launched an internal investigation after multiple employees accused the Duchess of Sussex of mistreating staff.

According to a recent report, the Prince of Wales played a key role in leading the inquiry, but the results were ultimately kept private after Meghan dismissed the claims as another “attack on her character.” A royal insider told New Idea Magazine that William had multiple reasons for keeping the findings confidential.

“William wanted to protect the staffers who had come forward,” the source revealed. “But it was also an act of self-preservation.” Now, with renewed scrutiny of Meghan’s past behavior, the future king is reportedly more certain than ever that he made the right decision.

The controversy was reignited after Vanity Fair published a scathing article accusing the Duchess of Sussex of being a “mean girl.” The report cited former employees who claimed they were “thrown to the wolves” while working for Meghan, with some alleging they required “long-term therapy” after their experience.

Since the article’s publication, William is said to be privately relieved that he handled the situation with caution. “It’s no secret that he and Meghan didn’t get along,” the royal insider added. “William can’t help but feel that he was right to be cautious.”

While the Prince of Wales reportedly does not take pleasure in seeing these accusations made public, the insider noted that he believes his instincts about Meghan were correct. “William doesn’t take any pleasure in any of these allegations being made public,” the source continued. “But he can’t help but feel he made the right call on Meghan and was right to be wary of her.”

The original bullying claims against Meghan surfaced shortly before her and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. At the time, the Sussexes strongly denied the allegations, calling them a smear campaign. However, the palace’s decision to keep the investigation findings private has only fueled speculation about what was uncovered.

As the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family remains unresolved, the renewed focus on Meghan’s past workplace behavior has once again thrust tensions between the two sides into the spotlight. William, for his part, is reportedly standing firm in his belief that he acted appropriately in handling the matter, ensuring that both the staff and the monarchy were protected from further controversy.
