35-Year-Old Texas Man Stabs Mother After She Refuses to Give Him Her Wallet
A Texas man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his mother when she refused to hand over her wallet, authorities reported. Joseph Anthony Abreu, 35, is accused of forcing his way into a Houston home on the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 4, demanding that his mother surrender her wallet, according to a statement from the Houston Police Department.
When the 58-year-old woman declined to comply, Abreu allegedly attacked her with a knife, police said. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the injured woman — whose name has not been released — to a hospital. She was reported to be in stable condition, the release stated.
Following the incident, Abreu fled before law enforcement arrived at the residence. However, he was apprehended the following day and taken into custody. Abreu now faces charges of aggravated assault of a family member and burglary with intent to commit another felony, told Fox News.
As of now, it is unclear whether Abreu has entered a plea or secured legal representation. The shocking incident has left the local community rattled, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Houston Police Department has not provided further details about what led to the confrontation. This case highlights the severe consequences of domestic violence and the critical importance of addressing such issues within families.
