Former President Joe Biden is facing widespread trolling on social media after signing with a top Hollywood talent agency just two weeks after leaving the White House, Fox Business reported Monday, January 3.

The move surprised many in political and entertainment circles, particularly given that numerous Hollywood elites had played a role in pressuring Biden to step aside from the 2024 presidential race due to concerns about his age and mental sharpness.

Prominent figures such as George Clooney, who wrote an op-ed in The New York Times detailing Biden’s decline, were among those urging him to step down. Others who expressed similar concerns included Ashley Judd, John Cusack, Rob Reiner, Stephen King, Mia Farrow, and Michael Douglas.

Despite that, Biden has now signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a powerhouse firm that previously represented him from 2017 to 2020. CAA also represents former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

During his earlier stint with CAA, Biden published his memoir, Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose, in 2017. The agency also backed his American Promise speaking tour, which, according to a CAA press release, sold more than 85,000 tickets nationwide.

Following Biden’s decision to rejoin CAA, agency co-chairman Richard Lovett released a statement praising the former president’s leadership and influence. “President Biden is one of America’s most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs. His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility.

We are profoundly honored to partner with him again,” Lovett said. However, as soon as news of Biden’s Hollywood move broke, critics flooded social media with mockery and jabs.

Online commentators, particularly on conservative platforms, ridiculed Biden’s pivot to the entertainment industry, with some jokingly suggesting that he might soon launch a podcast or star in a Netflix documentary. Others criticized Hollywood’s shifting stance—first pushing him out of politics, then welcoming him back into the industry.

While Biden and his team have not commented on his future plans, political analysts speculate that his re-entry into the entertainment world could signal upcoming projects, potentially including a book deal, public speaking engagements, or media appearances.

As the 82-year-old former president settles into post-White House life, reactions remain divided—between those who see the move as a natural next step and those who view it as a desperate attempt to stay relevant.
