Former Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly holding her husband, Doug Emhoff, partially responsible for her loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Harris blames her loss on the nasty scandals involving her “dead weight” spouse that circulated throughout her campaign, a source revealed to the Daily Mail.

“There’s plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned, and Doug has his share,” the source claimed. Harris was publicly affectionate toward Emhoff after her loss, with supporters praising his support during the campaign’s challenging moments.

However, behind the scenes, Harris is said to be reevaluating whether her husband is an asset or a liability as she considers a possible run for California governor in 2026 or another bid for the presidency in 2028.

Emhoff’s alleged controversies include accusations that surfaced during the summer of 2024. Reports claimed he had an affair with his daughter’s nanny, Najen Naylor, while married to his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff. The alleged affair reportedly led to a pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage, followed by a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for $80,000.

In October, further allegations emerged from a former girlfriend, who claimed that Emhoff slapped her during an altercation at an A-list event in Cannes, France, in 2012. The ex-girlfriend alleged the incident left her “dazed and confused.”

Emhoff denied the accusation through a representative, calling any suggestion of physical violence “false.” Adding to the tension, Emhoff has faced criticism from former colleagues at Venable, the Los Angeles law firm where he worked from 2006 to 2017.

Despite the couple’s united public appearances at events like President Trump’s inauguration and Jimmy Carter’s state funeral, insiders suggest their relationship is strained. “Things are not ‘hunky dory’ between them,” one source noted.

At the inauguration, Harris and Emhoff maintained a united front, but their expressions reportedly reflected the tension. Harris sat stoically, clutching her inauguration document, while Emhoff was seen grimacing during Trump’s speech, particularly when the president announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”

With Emhoff now reportedly accepting a position at a New York law firm, the couple will need to split their time between Los Angeles and New York. As Harris contemplates her next political move, speculation grows that she may seek to overhaul her public image, potentially at Emhoff’s expense, as she works to rebuild her political career.
