Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) revealed that a woman in Georgia was killed Monday in a car accident involving a police officer responding to a bomb threat at her home. Greene condemned the incident, calling it a “despicable act” with fatal consequences.

The Rome Police Department bomb squad had been dispatched to Greene’s residence following a threat her office claimed was “traced to a Russian IP address.” While police later determined there was no “active threat” to the congresswoman, the situation took a tragic turn when a fatal car crash occurred involving a responding officer.

“My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department,” Greene wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously.”

The crash, confirmed by police, left the officer with non-critical injuries, according to Atlanta’s WXIA-TV. Greene, however, expressed her anger over the incident, claiming the person behind the threat was ultimately responsible for the loss of life.

“The perpetrator of this crime has committed murder in our small community of Rome, Georgia,” Greene wrote. “The police shouldn’t have to respond to these threats and there should not be deaths caused at their hands.”

Greene further emphasized the toll such threats take on law enforcement, noting that officers put their lives on the line to protect others. “I’m so thankful for everything the Rome Police Department does to protect our city,” she stated. “I’m sick to my stomach, but I’m also angry.”

Greene’s office reported that she had been the target of “swatting” incidents at least nine times, referring to false emergency calls that led police to an individual’s home. They added that local and federal authorities, including the FBI, are working to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Highlighting the “international nature and severity” of the threat, Greene concluded with a call for action to prevent such tragedies in the future. “This should have never happened, and I pray it never happens again,” she wrote.

The fatal crash underscores the potential real-world consequences of threats against public officials, drawing further scrutiny to the strain such incidents place on both individuals and law enforcement agencies.
