First Lady Melania Trump is expected to embrace her second term in the White House with greater confidence and a more defined role, The Mirror reported on January 25. Dubbed “Melania 2.0” by author and first lady historian Kate Andersen Brower, the 54-year-old former model is said to be carving out a distinct identity while maintaining her signature poise.

Melania moved into the White House on January 20, the day of President Donald Trump’s inauguration, accompanied by a film crew working on a documentary about her life. The project, which began production in November, is nearing completion and is seen as a source of renewed energy for the first lady.

The documentary follows the release of her biography, Melania: A Memoir, in October 2024, which topped the New York Times bestseller list and became one of the year’s bestsellers on Amazon. The streaming rights to the documentary were reportedly purchased by Amazon Prime for $40 million, with plans to debut the film later this year.

Beyond the documentary, Melania has also joined her husband in launching their own cryptocurrency, further reflecting what Brower describes as a “Trumpified” approach to the role of first lady. “There’s a level of greed we haven’t seen before,” Brower told the Daily Mail. “It’s not as if she doesn’t understand the role, but I believe she’s taken the view that she doesn’t need to make everyone happy.”

Historically, the position of first lady comes with no salary, a point Brower emphasized. “Michelle Obama gave up her job and wasn’t making money. It’s been seen historically as tacky. By monetizing that position, it diminishes it,” she said. However, Melania appears to be redefining expectations, taking a business-minded approach to her public persona.

Brower also commented on Melania’s evolving relationship with the president. While the First Lady has often been perceived as distant or stoic, she may be shifting toward a more publicly affectionate dynamic with Donald Trump. “We’ll see her standing by him because of the trauma of the assassination attempts. That has really rocked her world, as it would for anyone,” Brower explained.

The historian predicted that the couple would display more public displays of affection (PDA) during this term, contrasting with earlier moments, such as Melania swatting Donald’s hand away during a 2017 visit to Israel. In her memoir, Melania later clarified the incident as a practical issue with the red carpet, dismissing speculation about marital discord.

As Melania Trump steps into her second term as first lady, her renewed confidence, ambitious projects, and potential shifts in public demeanor signal a more proactive and self-assured chapter in her tenure.
