“You Want to Call Me Heartless? I’ll Do It Without Apology”: Trump Border Czar Fires Back at Critics
Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, delivered a fierce rebuttal to critics, who labeled him “heartless” regarding his hardline immigration policies. Speaking on Fox News Monday, Homan addressed accusations from prominent Democrats, including former Obama Cabinet Secretary Julian Castro and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who questioned his empathy during recent TV appearances.
“They should’ve worn my shoes for 34 ½ years and dealt with the tragedies that I’ve dealt with,” said Homan, the former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) chief. “You want to call me heartless, call me heartless. I’m going to do exactly what I say, and I’m going to do it without apology.”
Homan, who is tasked with implementing President-elect Trump’s controversial immigration policies, including mass deportations, defended his stance by highlighting the severe issues at the U.S.-Mexico border. He cited a surge in fentanyl poisonings, border crossing deaths, and human trafficking as evidence of a crisis that he believes has been exacerbated by Democratic leadership.
“You know what’s heartless?” Homan asked Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany. “It’s these politicians like Crockett and Castro who covered up the open border. Who didn’t speak up about the children being sex trafficked in this country? Didn’t speak up about the number of aliens that are dying crossing the border.”
Homan painted a grim picture of the realities at the southern border, describing women being raped by cartel members and predicting that “a child will die tonight on the southern border.” Turning his criticism back on Democrats, he accused them of ignoring these issues for political reasons.
“All these people are cowards because for four years they didn’t say anything – they didn’t push back on the administration, they didn’t talk about the open borders and how many Americans and migrants are dying, they didn’t talk about the sex trafficking – they’re heartless,” Homan said.
The interview highlights the stark divide between Trump’s immigration policies and Democratic opposition. As Homan prepares to take the reins on border enforcement, his unapologetic rhetoric underscores the aggressive approach he intends to take, despite fierce criticism from his detractors.
