Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has weighed in on the recent solo appearances of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, defending the couple’s independent approach while addressing speculation of a professional separation. Speaking on GB News, Fitzwilliams acknowledged the ongoing rumors but emphasized that the couple is simply exploring new strategies for their public endeavors.

“I think that they realized they had done a lot of events solo, they knew there’d be speculation about a separation,” Fitzwilliams stated. “I don’t see that as the rationale for it. I think they’re trying something new. I think it’s been quite successful.” He highlighted the importance of their ability to diversify their individual ventures while maintaining their collective brand, which he believes has been effective.

Despite the couple’s success with this new approach, Fitzwilliams noted that the expiration of their Netflix contract next year is creating some pressure. The deal, reportedly worth $100 million, has been a major part of their financial and professional portfolio since stepping down from their royal duties.

“They’re very nervous about the Netflix contract ending next year because that links them to the $100 million that was reportedly paid for it,” Fitzwilliams shared. “So very clearly, it’s a period for them where Meghan has got to launch her American Riviera Orchard, which isn’t proving easy. She’s got her cooking program for Netflix.”

He also mentioned the couple’s other projects, including Harry’s polo series, which has been credited to both of them for Netflix. While Fitzwilliams expressed some skepticism about the series’ potential appeal, he acknowledged it could still find an audience, regardless of its wide success.

“We’ll have to see what that’s like, he’s got his polo series in fact, credited to them both for Netflix. I can’t see that having wide appeal, whether or not it’s good,” the royal commentator said before concluding his remarks.

The Sussexes’ solo appearances and varied business ventures demonstrate their ongoing adaptation to life outside the royal family, with new opportunities and challenges ahead as they navigate their future endeavors.
