Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been given a new nickname by British politician Nigel Farage, who took aim at the couple while attending a royal reception at Buckingham Palace. Farage, the leader of the Reform UK party, was among more than 300 Members of Parliament welcomed by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the palace.

While speaking at the event, he took a swipe at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, branding them “Wonderboy and Wondergirl” and criticizing their decision to leave the UK for America.

“Wonderboy and Wondergirl disappear off to America, the [late] Queen dies, the King’s not been well, Andrew’s not in the public eye, Princess Anne is 74, so they are doing a lot of the heavy lifting and I think doing it very well,” Farage said, implying that senior royals have had to take on additional responsibilities in Harry and Meghan’s absence, reported Daily Express.

The remarks are the latest in a long history of criticism directed at the Sussexes, who have been at odds with the Royal Family since stepping back from their official roles in 2020. Harry and Meghan, who now reside in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have frequently spoken out against the monarchy.

In a highly publicized 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple accused the Royal Family of failing to support them and alleged racist comments were made about their son Archie’s skin color. Since their move to the U.S., the Sussexes have struggled to maintain their initial momentum in Hollywood. While their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan generated significant buzz, their other media ventures have faced setbacks, including the termination of their Spotify deal.

Farage’s comments reflect the ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the UK establishment. While King Charles and Prince William have continued their royal duties amid Charles’ recent cancer diagnosis, Harry has remained largely distant from the family, only making brief visits back to the UK.

Neither Harry nor Meghan has responded to Farage’s remarks, but the criticism underscores the broader divide between the couple and the British public, where opinions remain split on their decision to step away from royal life.
