Meghan Markle is reportedly seeking new friendships in Hollywood, and according to insiders, she’s been using her past divorce as a way to bond with A-listers. A well-placed source revealed to Closer magazine that the Duchess of Sussex has been strategically connecting with high-profile stars such as Jennifer Garner and Kate Hudson by sharing details of her split from ex-husband Trevor Engelson.

The latest celebrity to hear her story, according to the outlet, is actress Jessica Alba. The insider claimed that Meghan saw an opportunity to connect with Alba at Kerry Washington’s recent birthday party. “She did her research beforehand on Kerry’s pals that she hadn’t met before, and as soon as she knew Jessica was going to be there, she made a beeline for her,” the source shared.

Meghan reportedly waited until later in the evening, when guests had relaxed over drinks and were mingling in smaller groups, to approach Alba. “She told her how sorry she was and opened up about her split from Trevor, confessing how difficult she’d found it to finally make the call to end their marriage,” the insider continued. At first, Alba appeared surprised by Meghan’s candidness, but ultimately, she appreciated the honesty.

“Meghan explained how unhappy she’d been even before moving to Canada and how she tormented herself with the decision to call time on her marriage for months. When she finally did, she felt a huge sense of relief, which helped settle any lingering doubts,” the source revealed. However, Meghan acknowledged that her situation was different from Alba’s, as her marriage to Engelson lasted a shorter time and they did not have children together.

With Meghan’s A-list friendships reportedly dwindling, the source claims she is eager to build new connections in Hollywood. “She’s hoping this new friendship with Jessica can flourish and that she’ll be welcomed into her social circle, which includes the likes of Kate Hudson and Jennifer Garner,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the Duchess has faced criticism from royal commentators, including Amanda Platell, who accused her of sidelining Prince Harry while she focuses on her Hollywood image. Writing for The Daily Mail, Platell questioned Meghan’s priorities:
