‘Mental health advocate’ Prince Harry faces crisis over company culture
Prince Harry is embroiled in another controversy after his association with the mental health and coaching app BetterUp has come under scrutiny. The Duke of Sussex, who serves as the company’s “Chief Impact Officer,” is facing backlash following accusations that BetterUp is a “psychologically unsafe place to work.”
Several current and former employees have taken to Glassdoor to share their negative experiences with the platform, describing the work environment as a “toxic train wreck” led by an “elitist club of managers” with “no moral compass.” These serious allegations have raised questions about Harry’s role and the company’s practices, despite his previous advocacy for mental health well-being.
In an interview with In Touch Weekly, an insider claimed that Harry, who reportedly earns $1.2 million a year in his position at BetterUp, is likely aware of these troubling claims. “What we’re doing is about equipping people to thrive,” Harry stated in the past about his role at BetterUp. Still, as he is a longtime mental health advocate, “this could be a nightmare for Harry,” adds an insider.
He emphasized, “Whether you’re performing at the highest level, or want to get to the next level, or just want to get started, it’s all about having the specialized resources, preparation, and human connection to back you up — whatever the challenge.”
Despite Harry’s public stance on supporting mental health, the insider speculated that Harry’s “friends, the higher-up execs at BetterUp, have probably filled him in on their side in all this.” This raises concerns about how much the Duke of Sussex truly knows about the working conditions within the company.
“This could be a nightmare for Harry,” the insider remarked, especially considering his past advocacy for mental health. His association with a company accused of fostering a toxic work environment could potentially harm his reputation and the credibility of his work in promoting mental well-being.
As the controversy continues, many are questioning how Harry will navigate this situation, given his longstanding support for mental health awareness. The ongoing scrutiny over BetterUp has led to greater attention on his role and what steps he may take moving forward.
